Grosvenor Group appoints Director for Environment and Design

Grosvenor, the private property development, investment and fund management group, has appointed Kate Brown as Group Director Environment & Design, a newly created position. The appointment takes effect Jan. 1, 2008.

Kate Brown MRICS, currently Development Manager at Grosvenor Australia Asia Pacific, worked for Grosvenor in the United Kingdom and Australia and has extensive experience in property development and management. The Australian market has led the way internationally in establishing recognized standards of environmental sustainability for buildings.
In his new role, Kate will continue to be based in Australia, but work within the group holding company, reports Jeremy Newsum, Group Chief Executive. It will be the first member of the Holding Company team to be based outside

Ms. Brown joined Grosvenor
Graduate Asset Manager in 1999 on the area of ??Mayfair in London. After working as a surveyor for the development in the Liverpool team in detail between 2001 and 2003, she moved to Australia to work as development manager in the Sydney office. In this role, she developed an office building, 25 Smith Street, in Parramatta, which was designed for a four-star Green Star and a four and half Australian Building Greenhouse Rating. The building has many sustainable features such as rainwater, solar efficient glazing materials and recycled. Kate is a professional certified by Green Star. (Green Star and Australian Building Greenhouse Ratings are Australia’s energy efficiency and advanced environmental systems for classification of quality buildings.)

new Group Director for Environment and Design will provide policy guidance and strategy on the environment for business group’s operating internationally – including Grosvenor North American offices in San Francisco, Washington , DC, Philadelphia, Vancouver and Calgary – and will champion the sharing and promoting best practices in sustainability in all areas of business. Ms. Brown will conduct research and gather materials to enhance understanding and knowledge of how the interaction with environmental officials may be directly related to the design and development of buildings, communities, and the public domain.
