Doe Run gets the standard national ambient air quality for the second quarter

According to data collected by Doe Run and a quarterly report, 10 of the company’s stations air monitoring in Herculaneum ranged from 0.2 to 1.2 micrograms of lead per cubic meter of air, place foundry standard of the Environmental Protection Agency air quality of 1.5 micrograms of lead per cubic meter of air (averaged over a calendar quarter). Broad Street and City Hall, the two closest monitors at the facility, registered 1.2 and 1.0 for the quarter, respectively.

“We are very pleased that, during the first quarter following the implementation of all controls SIP, the plant reached the standard of air quality monitors at all,” said Gary Hughes, Chief of the Division Herculaneum merger. “At the end of July, we will be finishing the new fence line in the overall process to achieve the level consistent with Herculaneum.”

In April, Doe Run successfully completed more than 60 engineering and administrative control measures outlined in the 2007 Plan of the State Implementation (SIP), which was designed to improve air quality and put the region in achieving consistent with the NAAQS for lead. The company has invested a total of about $ 8 million of SIP projects, including building envelopes, stack extensions and a sprinkler system. All were completed on time.
