The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) has urged the government of Great Britain coaltion new to investing in the construction industry.

“The last recession taught us that if we neglect the training and educating our workforce we will suffer in the long term, and adversely affect our ability to respond to any economic recovery,” said he

“There is also a great opportunity to develop low carbon skills that industry needs to meet the green agenda,” he added.

CIOB joined forces with the Construction Industry Council and has published a manifesto for the built environment which highlights the importance of the construction industry to the economy.

The document “Building the economy of the future “also examines the role of the construction industry in developing a low carbon economy, either by refurbishing the existing stock of buildings or development of new buildings and infrastructure .

Manifest Objectives include the promotion of future job creation and skills development in the workforce through training and continued learning during the economic downturn.

The organizations would also like the government to appoint a full-time minister of construction and to promote access to employment in the construction of all sections of society to achieve a diverse industry dynamics.

The National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting is also said that more women should be encouraged to take courses as it would benefit the power sector and construction sector as a whole.
