CleanEdison, a leader of the National Council of green building and education provider, announced today that it joins with community colleges nationally to instruct individuals in the energy audits of training with BPI certification, allowing individuals to join the energy sector more and more green. Although unemployment is approaching 10% of the federal government, jobs in the green economy is booming nationally. A recent PEW report estimates federal stimulus has invested “over $ 6 billion for the efforts of state and local governments to achieve energy efficiency, 5 billion for weatherization of low income households, and 500 million dollars for vocational training to help workers involved in clean energy economy.
Through partnerships with community colleges in the country, such as Phoenix, Arizona College and Everett Community College in Washington, CleanEdison has positioned itself to become the largest provider of BPI nation building and training BPI analyst certification. According to BPI, residences account for 20% of the carbon footprint of America, and therefore present an important opportunity to use less energy. Although many states and localities have already mandated energy efficiency standards, the U.S. Congress is set to ratify the Save American Energy Act (HR 899) that require utilities nationally to demonstrate electricity savings 15% and 10% natural gas savings by 2020.
The energy saved due to the proposed federal standards for energy efficiency of power could almost 48 million households in 2020, representing approximately 36% of households in the United States. In addition, this level of energy conservation will save nearly 170 dollars U.S., creating over 220,000 jobs and reduce pollution from greenhouse gas emissions by 262 million tons while eliminating the need to build 390 power plants.
